Mr. Walleye Fish Fry

"All lakes are the same, and the fish are the fish."

Get back to basics with the world’s best basic coating and batter mix – Gary Roach’s Favorite Mr. Walleye Breading and batter mix.

Gary, like most people, is in love with simple culinary affairs.  Fried fish, for example.  Simple.  Basic. Deep-fat fried or pan fried.  Golden brown.  Succulent.  Beautiful. Prepared indoors or outdoors.

The breading and batter mix is great on gamebirds, small game, and venison too.  It makes wild game a real feast, taking a bit of the ‘wild’ taste, while leaving all the flavor.

Chicken, pork chops, potatoes and vegetables.

Gravy too!

The breading and batter mix was developed through many years of guiding.  After a while, you learn what people like and don’t like.

The years have also taught Gary a healthy respect for health.  That’s why this breading is so light.

What’ neat about Mr. Walleye is that you can pan fry with it, add beer, or water to make a batter, or sprinkle it on for broiling or baking.

Beverly Roach - The Heart behind Mr. walleye
While Gary Roach became known across North America as "Mr. Walleye," Beverly Roach has been the heart of the business since the very beginning. Working behind the scenes, Beverly helped build the Mr. Walleye brand from the ground up—managing the day-to-day operations, connecting with customers and retailers, coordinating orders, and ensuring every bag of Mr. Walleye Fish Fry met the standards that anglers came to trust. For decades, Gary and Beverly worked side by side, combining Gary's passion for fishing with Beverly's dedication to customer service and business operations. Together, they created a brand that became a favorite among generations of anglers, hunters, families, and outdoor cooks. Today, as the Mr. Walleye tradition continues, Beverly's legacy remains woven into every package. Her commitment to quality, relationships, and treating customers like family helped make Mr. Walleye more than a fish fry—it became a Minnesota tradition.

Gary Still Loves to Cook
For Gary Roach, a great fish fry has always been about more than perfectly cooked fish. One of his favorite traditions is using the flavorful bits left in the pan to make a rich, homemade gravy—the perfect finishing touch to a meal shared with family and friends. That simple tradition reflects the confidence Gary has always had in Mr. Walleye. For decades, he proudly stood behind the brand, knowing that the same breading mix trusted on fresh walleye also brought incredible flavor to gravy, potatoes, vegetables, and countless family recipes. It wasn't just a product he promoted—it was the one he served at his own table. Gary's pride in Mr. Walleye has never wavered, and that legacy continues today. Every bag carries forward the quality, flavor, and traditions that he and Beverly built over a lifetime of sharing great meals with fellow anglers, hunters, and outdoor families.

Start cooking what you Catch and Harvest

There’s something deeply rewarding about preparing the fish you caught or the game you harvested. Every cast, every hunt, and every day outdoors creates memories worth bringing to the table. Cooking your own harvest isn’t just about the meal—it’s about honoring the experience, sharing time with family and friends, and enjoying the satisfaction of providing food with your own hands. Whether it’s fresh walleye from your favorite lake, upland birds from a crisp fall morning, venison from deer camp, or waterfowl after a successful hunt, Mr. Walleye makes it easy to turn your harvest into a golden, crispy meal everyone will remember. The tradition begins outdoors, but the best stories are shared around the table.
